Al Crofton (d. 1970) served as an infantryman during the Vietnam War. He was killed by the Viet Cong in a tunnel in a village called Timbuk2 in the Echo Sector of the Cu Chi District. Crofton had gone into the tunnel with two other soldiers. All three of them were green and none had tunnel experience. They became separated. Two came out but Crofton was left inside. A day later two tunnel rats, Harry Bosch and Billy Meadows, were then sent in to find Crofton and bring him out. His body was found by Bosch. This was Bosch's last tunnel.
