Birth of a Dark Hunter is a short story about the events in the Toa/Dark Hunter War in Metru Nui that led to the betrayal of Toa Nidhiki, of some of his experiences as a Dark Hunter, and his mutation by Roodaka. The story was publsihed in the first edition of the Bionicle Encyclopedia. Toa Lhikan crept silently through the dark streets of Ta-Metru. The night was utterly silent, as if his adopted home had become a city of the dead. Even the shadows seemed touched by the fear that gripped Metru Nui.
