The loss of a small amount of blood has almost no medical consequences. A healthy human can lose 10-15% of their total blood volume with no serious side effects. The process of making a blood donation typically involves the loss of 8-10% of a person's blood. The lost blood cells are eventually completely regenerated in the bone marrow of the body in a process known as "haematopoiesis".
