Mereel was Dono Tello's final piece before he died. It took him over two years to complete due to his declining health. After Dono Tello's death, his work became highly sought after which increased their value. In 42 BBY, the Mandalore Museum of the Arts curator Pax Eem managed to acquire the Mereel sculpture. In transporting it to the museum on Mandalore, via the Starport 15 passenger transport vessel, a thief named Jace Riker attempted to steal it. MI5 agent Shasta Moonreaper, who was traveling aboard that same vessel at the time, wasn't about to let that happen.
