Alice Raynould (née Schofield) was the elder sister of Ena Schofield (later Sharples). Alice had been married. According to Ena, Alice "got ideas" when her husband was made head of the plumbing, and, befitting their new status as civic dignitaries, had the couple received, christened and confirmed within a week. In 1963, Alice's neighbour wrote to Ena at the Glad Tidings Mission Hall to inform her that her sister was on the danger list. After receiving the letter, Ena went to visit Alice in Sheffield. Alice passed away a few days later and left everything to Ena.
