James Walter Frederick Lucas (1878 - 13 April 1955) was a Labour Party politician. Born in Walworth, he was the son of Frederick Walter and Emily Lucas. His father was a tinsmith. By 1907, when he married Louise Edna Reynolds, he was working as a laundryman and living in Peckham. By the time of the 1911 Census he was described as a laundry manager. Mayor of Camberwell 1934-35 and 1954-55. Lucas died in office as mayor. Member of the London County Council representing Camberwell, Peckham 1946-49. Lucas Gardens ([1]) are named after him.
