Constantine Callas was born in El Centro, California on October 22, 1929. That was exactly one week before the stock market crash that caused the Great Depression. His father owned a restaurant at Four Corners in El Centro until he died in 1931 when a physician failed to perform surgery for a gallbladder condition.
