Religious extremism too frequently leads to persecution of those who don't share the extreme religious views. Examples: 1. * 9/11 terrorism and other acts of Islamic terrorism. 2. * Terrorist attacks by Protestants against Roman Catholics and by Roman Catholic against Protestant in Northern Ireland. 3. * Prejudice and discrimination by adherents of the American Religious Right against those who disagree with them. Victims of discrimination include Liberal Christians, believers in Non-Christian religions, Atheists. In some more Cult like Sects anyone who doesn't belong to the sect or who leaves the sect is ostracized. Jehovah's Witnesses are noted for shunning those who leave the sect. Families are broken up through shunning.
