Prior to her work on Star Trek, Bixby worked as costumer on the musical comedy Roadie (1980), the television drama I Want to Live (1983), and the comedy Legal Eagles (1986). She also worked as costume designer on the 1982 television thriller Wait Until Dark. Bixby worked as costume supervisor on the drama Singles (1992), the crime drama The Salton Sea (2002), and the adventure comedy Beverly Hills Chihuahua (2008).
