Mayor George W. Buckman is one of the central antagonists of the comedy-horror film 2001 Maniacs as well as its sequel and remake - he is the leader of an entire town of murdered Confederates who number 2001 in total, during the dark era of the Civil War he and his town were slaughtered and made an oath that "2001 died - thus 2001 must also die" - a case of "an eye for an eye". Thus the vengeful ghosts of the townsfolk return to exact a bloody revenge on the living, a stereotype of a Southern "redneck" Mayor Buckman is a wild and unpredictable character who is also racist and cannibalistic.
