The United Nations Space Command Department of Biological Exploration was a subdivision of the Office of Naval Intelligence. The department was organized in 2537 and was immediately tasked with gathering information on alien species, i.e. anatomy, traits of technology, culture, possibly society, et cetera. Approximately two thirds of this branch are actually civilian scientists, including Professor Amanda Celeste. The DBE would play an increasingly large role during the Galactic War as it had cataloged a dozen separate races, some of which were classified to the public eye.
