The Winchman was part of the RAF helicopter team called out to assist Mountain Rescue in the Lake District after Liam Connor was found in a gorge, having fallen in the dark trying to retrieve Ozzy, the dog, who had gone missing when walking on the fells while on a short break with Maria Sutherland. Liam was winched into a helicopter on a stretcher and taken away to hospital. He was seriously ill at first but recovered after several days and was later discharged.
