Jonathan P. Hanson, better known as J.P. Hanson, was a Starfleet flag officer, with the rank of vice admiral, who worked for Starfleet Tactical in the 2360s. During his tenure there, Hanson was charged with finding means to combat the Borg threat following the USS Enterprise-D's encounter with them in 2365. (TNG: "The Best of Both Worlds") The character is canonically known as "J.P. Hanson", with the first name "Jonathan" being given in "The Silence Ends".
