The Hard-Faced Man (played by James Hong) is a doctor who along with a syndicate operates a lottery-like organ-harvesting operation in San Francisco's Chinatown. Mulder and Scully investigate a series of immolation murders, eventually leading them to discover this fixed game, in which desperate immigrants believe they have a chance to win a huge cash prize at the risk of losing body parts, but inevitably all end up dead. The Hard Faced Man is nonfatally shot during the final confrontation, but escapes prosecution due to all witnesses refusing to testify. (TXF: "Hell Money")
