Natalie's latest attempt at a blood substitute gives Nick a nightmare in which, among other things, he is pursued by LaCroix in a purple dinosaur costume (i.e. based on the children's TV show character, Barney). Natalie thinks this is a good sign, for bad dreams are very human; but LaCroix—who has been lurking outside the window—has caught glimpses through his connection with Nick, and decides to torment him by buying a "Barney" Halloween costume.
