PC baangs (PC방, 피시방 or 피씨방) are internet game rooms used in South Korea. They are similar to internet cafés in other countries. The word "baang" (Hangeul: 방; Hanja: 房) means "room" in Korean, so the term literally means PC room. In baangs, players can play LAN-based games, including StarCraft. South Korea has widespread broadband support as well, but players tend to prefer playing in baangs. There were over 20,000 baangs in South Korea as of 2006. As of March 2009, some baangs enabled players to play StarCraft II beta without beta keys.
