Samus's arm cannon has a small mechanical slot open on it and a barrel pop out and then go back in. This changes the kind of missile Samus fires when she uses the regular side special; the smash input of the attack will still fire Super Missiles. Although, sometimes the smash input will fire a different kind of missile, depending on what type of missiles are in effect at the time.
