Sonic Universe is published monthly by Archie Comics alongside its parent title Sonic the Hedgehog, and the two frequently tie-in together. The first issue was released to comic book stores on 25 February 2009 and fills the role of the "second monthly Sonic comic" following the cancellation of the Sonic X comic series.
