The northern mountains are mojestic purple mountains to the north of Tarna. They are the children of long-ago glaciers. They help keep the jungle alive by trapping the rain clouds and sending their water down to the Azure Sea to the east and the southern sea. The sparkling blue waters of the Mkubwa River flows from the mountains down to the southern sea. The mountains lie between Tarna and Egypt .
