The Kuni Reefs were created by the Kuni family shugenja in 657. Following a fire attack by the Sea Dragons pirate band on the Crab fleet moored at Clear Water Village, the Kuni used their earth magic to grow a coral reef on the approach to the harbor. Only a trained Hiruma pilot could navigate the reefs, and two bushi always accompany the pilot to avoid treachery. Any sign of duplicity, and the bushi have strict orders to kill the pilot to prevent their secrets coming out.
