Police officers are sworn government employees responsible for enforcing the law, detecting and preventing crime, and maintaining public order. They are typically equipped with firearms, batons, and OC spray, or pepper spray. In some police forces, officers are armed with electroshock weapons, commonly referred to as stun guns.
