Ray Charles (September 13, 1918 - April 6, 2015), sometimes credited as "The Other Ray Charles" to avoid confusion with the famous soul singer of the same name, replaced Larry Grossman as music consultant in the fourth season of The Muppet Show. He had met Jim Henson in the 1960s while working as a musical director on a show for Perry Como, on which Dr. Teeth also appeared as a guest. He joined the Muppets in England even as he was working as a conductor and arranger for Sha Na Na which was being produced in the United States.
