General Melchius is not unlike General Melchett from Blackadder Goes Forth. Like the rest of the Melchett dynasty he is played by Stephen Fry. He arrives to Hadrian's Wall on the back of a chariot. He wears full Roman general armour as well as only a pair of white underpants. He is fluent in Latin as shown when he tells the rest of his men the bad news about the Emperor and Rome.
