Part 1: A sad Ernie rummages around the apartment looking for something. Oscar enters the room and sees Ernie. He asks what is the matter, and Ernie explains that he’s lost his Rubber Duckie, and bursts into tears. Oscar tries to calm him down and assures him that it’s “only a Rubber Duckie”, but Ernie disagrees and cries even harder. Oscar tries to calm him down. He asks Ernie if he’s looked everywhere, and Ernie answers that he did. Oscar then inquires if he’s lent it to anyone, and the obvious answer is no. Oscar decides that he’ll go to the store and buy him another one. But Ernie says that his Rubber Duckie was something special and unique to him and not easy to replace.
