Margulies is probably best known for playing Nurse Carol Hathaway for six years on the NBC medical drama ER. She won an Emmy Award for this role, and was nominated several times for a Golden Globe Award. She was originally offered a $27 million contract to remain on the show for an additional three years, stretching into Season 9 of the show.
