Myrkyl was a methamphetamine created and distributed by the drug dealer Ivry Blunt. The sole source of this powerful drug was Blunt's laboratory in the back room of Tosche Station on Tatooine. Myrkyl was highly addictive and most users become addicted after trying it just once. One notable myrkyl addict was the hero Luke Skywalker, who destroyed the first Death Star while under the influence of myrkyl. When Alliance officials discovered his addiction, Skywalker had to undergo an extensive detoxification program before he was allowed to fly again.
