In some traditions lycanthropy is portrayed as a genetic characteristic transmitted from parent to child. The conditions neccessary to have a child born a werewolf vary. Sometimes both parents must share the disease and sometimes only one infected parent is neccessary. A related means to being born with lycanthropy is being the unbaptized seventh son of the seventh son.
