John David Stimpson (born 22 February 1949) is the former Leader of His Majesty's Opposition in The British Isles; former Leader of the Labour Party and Member of Parliament for Greater London. He took office on 14 October 2007, becoming the first Leader of the Labour Party but was forced to resign in April 2008 after a third consecutive election defeat. He was elected by his party officials to lead the party, after showing a keen interest in the politics of The British Isles whilst also showing his strong socialist beliefs.
