Inland Empire was the second single from SlipKnoT's second album Mortis Approaching. Although written before the lawsuit, the song's lyrics were changed so that it dealt with the insecure feelings the band had during their lawsuit. It described how the band felt isolated from its fans, and how they were an "Empire surrounded by enemies".
