The history of Terran Sign Language is very similar to the development of Terran Standard. The difference being Terran Sign Language is a method to communicate without sound, and thus only works in a visual medium. Its roots come from languages designed for the hearing impaired. One of the larger issues Terran Sign Language (or TSL) has is it largely only works for humanoids or very similar looking species.
