The original Dungeons & Dragons boxed set was officially published in January 1974, though a very limited print run in a wood-colored box with no artwork was available at Eastercon in 1973. It contains the basic rules of Dungeons & Dragons in three booklets. There have been eight discernible printings from 1973 to 1979. Details can be found at The Acaeum.
