During the Precursors' invasion of the Multiverse, an unidentified universe with an identical history to that of Earth-616 was in attacked. On Earth, many of it's cities were decimated and almost all of it's heroes and villains were slain in the onslaught. However, one hero managed to survive; Laura Kinney, X-23.
