Rise Herat was the court historian of Kharkanas. He considered himself a poor teacher and historian, uninterested in details or analysis and incapable of stringing together a coherent lecture. He often sought out the solitude of the Citadel's tower to watch the city from above even as he considered which side throw himself from. He was the author of the history (or possibly memoir) Throne, Sceptre and Crown which spanned at least eleven volumes.
