An ancient alien wizard named Zordon fled to Earth with the legendary Powergems, chased by Rita Repulsa. With the aid of his robot companion Alpha 5, Zordon bonded the Powergems to the life-forces of ancient animals and used the new powers to trap Rita in a dimensional prison. Zordon then went into suspended animation until the day Rita would escape her prison, guarded by Alpha. When Rita was freed, Zordon had Alpha 5 give the Powergems (now converted into the Power Chargers) to 5 teenagers. The became the Power Rangers Morphin Charge. Unable to beat the Rangers on her own,Rita created her own Ranger, Tommy the Green Ranger. However Zordon then gave Tommy's best friend Jason the powers of the White Ranger to turn Tommy good and they both joined the Power Rangers.
