Herald Callan was partnered with Herald Prince (and heir-presumptive) Sendar on his earliest circuits of Valdemar. Thoughtful, productive and kindly, Callan and his Companion often struggled in these early days working the countryside because he was city-born and hardly had any idea what village life and patterns were like. He is noted for aiding in capturing a convincing con-artist, Danet Stens, who impersonated being a Herald successfully for nearly two years before being captured outside the Rethwellan border.
