The song was written by James Fauntleroy, Brian Seans, Rihanna and produced by Brian Keneddy. Musically it’s a is a down-tempo, "chilled-out" pop and soul song. "Get It Over With" recieved mixed reviews from music critics, with some of them praising the song's gloomy mood, while the others called it "awful". The song didn’t enter any chart yet becoming only song from „Unapologetic” that did so, the song has also been remixed by producer Carmelo Famouss and released in 2015.
