An employee of the Union Aerospace Corporation, John Hughes was one of the unlucky members of the UAC's Alpha Labs science team. Providing maintenance on a plastic extrusion system, the machine was activated despite being unplugged and shredded his arm up to his elbow without any apparent power source.
