The Planet Reclamation Division was an organization that discovered an uncharted planet and a group was sent to survey the planet. They estimated that 80% of the planet's natural wildlife was extinct, and reported that they had been sent to a "dead planet". The team was later killed by the creatures responsible for the extinction of the wildlife. The Space Research Vessel Marina was later sent to the planet, and they managed to capture the Metroid species, only to be raided and destroyed by the Space Pirates, where they were later taken to Zebes to be used for galactic domination. This turn of events resulted in Samus Aran embarking on her famous Zero Mission to exterminate the Metroids there and destroy Mother Brain.
