USS Iron County (LST-840) was an LST-542-class tank landing ship built for the United States Navy during World War II. Named after counties in Michigan, Missouri, Utah, and Wisconsin, she was the only U.S. Naval vessel to bear the name. Originally laid down as LST-840 by the American Bridge Company of Ambridge, Pennsylvania on 28 September 1944; launched on 15 November, sponsored by Mrs. C. W. Doerr; and commissioned on 11 December with Lieutenant David McC. Bon in command.
