Venus Mantrap is a recurring enemy, having first appeared in Random Kingdom II. It is a plantoid lifeform that grows mainly underground, forming a large bulb with an upwards-facing maw. It has a long tentacle-like prehensile that has the appearance of a snake. The Mantrap lives in symbiosis with a Hamadryad, a plant-bound spirit with the appearance of a humanoid female. When sensing the presence of human prey, the two will stage a scene where the Hamadyrad fakes being attacked by a 'snake', which is really the plant's prehensile. The adventurer is lured into helping the damsel in distress, thereby treading on the maw hidden under soil and loose brushwood.
