At the beginning of The Eye of The World, Nynaeve is the Wisdom of Emond's Field, and several people complain how she is too young, especially after she was wrong in forecasting a mild winter. In FOH 8, Nynaeve, Elayne, Thom Merrilin and Juilin Sandar cross into Amadicia, having traveled overland from Tanchico. Thom goes into Mardecin for supplies, but after his return Nynaeve takes Elayne into town ostensibly to look for more, but also to discuss her shameful conduct towards Thom. Seeing an emergency signal for the Yellow Ajah outside Ronde Macura's shop, they go inside. She convinces Mistress Macura that she is Yellow Ajah, and hears an odd message from the tower before realizing that the tea they have been served is drugged, and slipping into complete paralysis.
