The Lantaru sector was a sector of space, located somewhere in the Alpha or Beta Quadrants, in or near Federation territory. In the 23rd century, Lantaru was the location of a mining colony, Tanaris IX, and a scientific outpost, Outpost 771. This sector was also the location of a covert space station used by Doctor Bendes Kettaract in his efforts to create a stable Omega molecule. After Kettaract's molecule destablized, the resulting energy release destroyed the fabric of subspace through much of the sector. (TOS - Section 31 novel: Cloak)
