Much of the Academy was devoted to dormitory space, as Guard cadets were recruited no later than their first birthdays and generally did not graduate until their early twenties. The Academy also featured numerous training sites for physical fitness, melee combat, and marksmanship. An entire mock-town was constructed at one corner of the Academy, in which Guard candidates could run training missions and combat simulations, as well as practicing crowd control and surveillance. The town featured at least two kill houses; a Tershin-class patrol corvette was grounded and made part of the Academy for similar scenarios inside capital ships.
