The story is based on Wren and Rascal, two surviving meerkats whom were hand-raised at Axe Valley Bird and Animal Park in the UK by Jayne Collier (the author) and her husband. The story tells of how the pair grew up, how they trashed their owner's kitchen, how they became a star attraction and how they won their place, permenately, in their family's heart.
