However, the weak and divided governments that came to power after the destruction of the Nazi Party in 1933 could not control the situation, and soon revolts were breaking out throughout Germany, and the Government soon collapsed in September 1934, the overstretched army and police forces unable to stop the fighting, and gave up the ghost. Germany ceased to be a functioning state by 1935.
