The Swarm-class Fighter is a unique ship in that it is one of the most easily obtained starfighter designs during the Galactic Republic, but was never mass produced by a major manufacturer. Originally intended to be the standard manned starfighter of the Trade Federation, the ship never made it into production. When the Federation decided to use battle droids rather than employ living beings for its own defense, the Swarm Project was scrapped and the designer of the ship impoverished. Soon after, the original creator of the starship began selling the ship's blueprints and technical readouts to any private manufacturers that could afford his modest pricetag.
