Kate Bush's Doctor is relaxing when a random woman in red shoes comes before her dancing like a lunatic and pleads for her to perform some ancient Gallifreyan chaos magic to release her from her enchantment. The Doctor receives the red shoes as a gift, but it soon becomes apparent that these are a quantum bio-locked perpetual motion mecha-snare devised in the Death Zone, forcing the Doctor to dance like a lunatic. The unknown woman reveals herself to be The Mattress and flees cackling into the night.
