The 1955–56 Division 2 season was the second tier of ice hockey in Sweden for 1955–56. The league consisted of 54 teams, divided into four regions - north, west, east, and south. The Eastern, Western and Southern groups were divided into "A" and "B" groupings, with the top team in each group advancing to a regional final. The Northern Group was split into three divisions. The top team from each region was promoted to Division 1. The runner-ups from the regional finals also played off for a spot in the top-tier.
