Fran was the owner of the Weston Bakery and the previous owner of the Dragonfly Inn. When Lorelai and Sookie approached Fran about purchasing the Dragonfly Inn, she declined. Fran had no children and she felt that the Dragonfly was sort of her child; she wanted it to remain hers forever.
