Starting to equip Squadrons, its racing lines and fine performance make it an easy fighter to speak well of though it has only been unveiled to the public only recently at Duxford. The Mark I is fitted with a Rolls Royce Merlin, is fast and responsive allowing for good aerobatics. It is outnumbered in Air Force service by the Hawker Hurricane.
